The Science City Kolkata was inaugurated on 1st July, 1997 by the then prime minister Inder Kumar Gujral. It is a wonderful exhibition on Earth and has been open for the people since 6th December 2008. There is a big Globe located at the center of the hall. The exhibition accommodates two storied hemispherical buildings which exhibit the details of the southern hemisphere in the ground floor and northern hemisphere in the first floor of the Science City Kolkata.

The globe is divided into 12 longitudinal segments each telling about the individual geography, land, flora, fauna. Modern technologies such as panoramic videos, 3D effects, polaroid spectacles have been used for visitors’ engagement.
