Food
We obtain different types of food such as meat, dairy products and eggs from animals which are a great source of protein, calcium, and many other nutrients.
- Meat – Meat is obtained from different animals and is eaten widely around the world. It is a great source of protein. Eg: Beef from cattle eaten as steaks, ground beef, etc. Pork from pigs is eaten as bacon, ham, and sausages, and other meat such as chicken, turkey, and duck. Fish such as salmon, tuna, and cod are also consumed for their meat.
- Dairy Products – Animals such as Cow, Buffalo, Sheep, and Goat, give us milk which is considered important for health and growth. There are a lot of dairy products derived from milk like Cheese, Yogurt, Butter, Ghee, and Cream which are excellent sources of Calcium.

Leather is obtained from the skins of animals. It is usually obtained from cattle, but can also be derived from other animals such as sheep, goats, pigs, snakes, and crocodiles. Leather is widely used in the fashion industry for items such as shoes, belts, bags, jackets, gloves, etc. It is also used in furniture and car interiors for aesthetic appearance.
Medicines
One of the most important things we get from animals is medicine. Animals have played a vital role in the development of medicine, providing important substances that help in the treatment of various conditions. For eg: Insulin, used to treat diabetes was obtained from cows and pigs, and Heparin, an anticoagulant was initially derived from pigs.
Honey and Beeswax
Beeswax is made from the honeycomb of the bees and is used to treat fungal infections and pain. It is also used for making candles, cosmetics, and lotions.
Work and Transportation
Camels are used in the desert for carrying goods and people to travel long distances. In ancient times Pigeons were used to send messages over long distances.
Fertilizers

Fur obtained from animals like foxes, and rabbits are used in the creation of luxury coats, jackets, etc.
Silk, Wool, and Leather, all are obtained from animals to make luxurious clothes and accessories. Feathers from birds like ostriches, ducks, and geese are used for decorative items and accessories like feathered hats and boas.
Wool And Silk
The two most valuable things we get from animals are Wool and Silk. Wool is obtained from the woolen coat of sheep and other animals like goats, alpacas, and llamas. Sheep wool is the most common and is known for its excellent heating properties and warmth. Wool is used to make sweaters, socks, scarves, and blankets
Silk is obtained from cocoons made by the larvae of the silkworm, it is known for its luxurious feel and smooth texture. Silk fabrics are used in making a wide range of products such as clothing items like dresses and blouses, as well as home furnishings such as curtains and bed sheets.
Tools And Materials
Animal bones, like long bones, antlers have been used as tools and weapons. They were shaped into sharp points or edges to create arrowheads, spearheads, knives, and needles. Shells, especially those of mollusks were used as scrapers, cutting tools, or decorative items.
Emotional Support
Apart from providing materials, food, tools, and fibers, one of the most valuable things we get from animals is companionship and emotional support. Emotional support animals such as cats, dogs, etc. are also prescribed by mental health professionals to help with anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Pet animals make a person happy and express emotions freely.
